Monroe County Library System Closed May 27 – May 30

Due to a system  software upgrade, patrons will not be able to visit Monroe County libraries in person or via the web. Please be advised that no items will be due during this time.

Our new Catalog Plus will allow patrons to visit a virtual library with enhanced content and images, and you can save your Personal Reading Lists !  You will be able access the Monroe Library from your smart phone using the  LS2 app.  We’re excited about these new changes. If you have any questions accessing from home after May 30th, please contact us.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend.

Seymour Teens and TBF 2011

We are very excited for teen book festival again this year. There were 30 Seymour teens in the Monday and Wednesday groups who started meeting in January. They have read books by 9 of the 28 authors who will be at the 6th Annual Greater Rochester Teen Book Festival on Saturday, May 14.

42 teens have signed up to ride the bus to Nazareth College on Saturday.  The bus is being sponsored by Bernie Daily of Daily Operations. Our library mascot will be unveiled at the festival, look for him (clue) at branches of the Monroe County Library System over the summer!

Happy Spring!

In my drive into work today, the crabapple trees are in bloom, can it  really be Spring!  It has been a long winter- The big buzz is that Amazon is finally going to cooperate with libraries for E-book dowloading on the best selling KINDLE e- reader device. It was sad when patrons came in after the holidays with their KINDLE in hand only to be told at the information desk that it was not compatible for downloading library books. Amazon KINDLE will be doing something extra by extending their Whispersync technology so that you can highlight and add margin notes to the KINDLE books you check out from the library. Your notes will not show up when the next patron checks out the book,  but… if you check out the book again, you can see your notes!  Very Cool. I am not sure of the time frame yet, will keep updating as new information becomes available.
